LINKPAL AC600 USB WiFi Adapter 600Mbps Dual Band USB WiFi Dongle Wireless Network Adapter with 3DBi High Gain Antenna up to 5G 433Mbps+2.4G. Recently, many Mac users have raised their concerns over WiFi issues in Mac OS X El Capitan. Sponsored Links Apart from Wi-Fi troubles, users have also ranted about issues in Microsoft Office, printing landscape-oriented docs, iTunes, and Airdrop.
How can I remove the glass from the macbook display to get to the wifi antenna? I have a 2014 MBP that is water damaged. The display and battery no longer work and I do not have the cash to repair it, so I decided to turn it into a desktop. The keyboard and trackpad work perfectly fine.
But I.had. to remove the display, it will only allow me to work an external display if the lid is closed but will only power on if the lid is open. So far I tried using 4 different external USB WiFi dongles but none of the drivers are compatible with El Capitan.
I considered using a USB to Ethernet adapter but I would strongly prefer to use the stock wifi card and the original antenna.
If you or anybody is still interested in this topic, I'm having pretty good results with my D-Link DWA 140 on El Capitan 10.11.1 I tried it previously on 10.6.8 and, yet I managed to make it work, it was highly unstable and never let me use any network different from the one in my house. It worked perfectly on Windows, so I ended up installing a VM with Windows XP and sharing the internet connection into Mac OS X, but as you can imagine, this took plenty of resources giving as a result a weak signal and a lot of trouble to get connected.
However, recently I decided to give it a go on El Capitan and, to my surprise, it is working like a charm! The signal strenght is as high and continuous as it is on my Windows partition, from which I get connected using the built-in WiFi PCI card. You can download the driver for Mac OS X from here: When you install the driver you'll see that it is for Mac OS X 10.5 (or higher), but, at least in my case, it's giving me no trouble at all. In fact, if you look up the driver on the web site on your own, you'll see that there is available a controller for OS X 10.10, however it gave me an error when I attempted to install it. P.S.: There is one 'little' thing I don't like about this dongle. It is a bit big and it literally blocks the USB port near it.
I want to confirm, that the ASUS USB-N13 also work with OSX El Capitan. Just download the recent driver from the developers site, install, reboot and plug in the USB-stick.
Unfortunately I also have to confirm that there is an issue with the sleep mode. After sleep you need to unplug and reinsert the hardware. But after that the network-link is back.
No restart or shutdown e.g. Is required to fix the problem.
PS: like in the topic obove - it´s a large dongle but comes with a shapeable extension. With that you are still able to use the USB port nearby and you also can move the stick around to get a better reception (never used that). Hope I can help with this information. Herewith I want to add another working wifi-dongle to this thread. This stick works fine with my el capitan hackintosh. So I assume it also will work on yours. After posting my last thread I continued the search for a smaller stick, because the stick I previously mentioned might block another USB port.
These days I came across a very slim wifi-stick which comes from the German manufacturer CSL. I purchased this piece of hardware for about 12.49 Euros from Amazon. It comes with a small external antenna and you also could connect another antenna. On this wifi card the chip RTL8191S is build in. A driver for MacOs 10.4 to 10.7 comes also with this network device. The 10.7 does work. However you will find the more recent driver for MacOs 10.8 on the developers website: Unfortunately this wifi thingie has a little glitch or so.
Your fake Mac will not go to sleep or even wake up unless you unplug the wifi-dongle before sending the pc to sleep!! After waking up, just plug the stick in a free USB and the PC will continue without further issues.
